Certification of Welders and Operators
Training and examination of welding personnel and welding operators must comply with the requirements specified in the applicable standards and regulations.
How to Obtain a TÜV Welding Certificate
Welder certification involves assessing the welder’s manual skills and their ability to follow oral or written welding instructions. This qualification is assessed through the Welder Qualification Examination, which requires welders to produce test welds. All test welds are subject to mandatory inspection. Upon successful completion of the examination, the welder receives a TÜV Thüringen welding certificate according to the specified welding method, along with a TÜV Thüringen Poland welder’s booklet.
Recognition of Welder Training and Examination Centres
The recognition process for a Welder Training Centre (WTC) begins with an audit conducted by an authorised expert, during which the centre’s capability to conduct training and examinations in accordance with the selected standards is assessed. Following a successful audit, TÜV Thüringen Poland signs an agreement with the WTC confirming the centre’s readiness to provide training in compliance with the relevant standards and regulations.
The WTC receives a Certificate of Recognition valid for two years. Renewal for an additional two years can be requested by the WTC and follows the same audit and approval procedures.
Verification of Welding Personnel Training
The verification of welding personnel training involves reviewing training programmes, assessing the competence of the instructors, and evaluating the technical capabilities of the respective Welding Training Centre (WTC).
As an independent certification body, TÜV Thüringen Poland conducts periodic supervision of WTCs, which provides an objective confirmation of their readiness to conduct training and examinations for welding personnel at the required standard. Certificates bearing the TÜV Thüringen logo are recognised both in Poland and internationally.
Welding Procedure Qualification (WPQR)
The Welding Procedure Qualification (WPQR) is a procedure designed to verify whether a manufacturer possesses the necessary qualifications to perform welding work according to the available Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). It also determines whether the test welds produced in accordance with these specifications meet the required quality standards as defined in the applicable norms.
