TÜV THÜRINGEN, as an Authorised Inspection Agency accredited by ASME, offers assistance in meeting contractual requirements based on the ASME Code and related standards.

What do the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) regulations cover?

These regulations set out requirements for establishing a quality oversight system, which includes:

  • Design
  • Material control
  • Manufacturing
  • Assembly
  • Manufacturing quality control
  • Non-destructive examination (NDE)
  • Certification of pressure equipment such as: power and heating boilers, as well as pressure vessels (including heat exchangers)

What is our role as TÜV THÜRINGEN?

  • We prepare companies to obtain the ASME Certificate of Authorisation to use the ASME Certification Mark.
  • We provide inspections after obtaining the ASME Certificate of Authorisation (in accordance with the agreement between the company and the Authorised Inspection Agency).
  • We conduct ‘third-party’ inspections for equipment that does not require the ASME Certification Mark but is manufactured wholly or partially in accordance with the ASME Code.
  • We assist in the qualification of welding procedures and welders in accordance with Section IX of the ASME Code.
  • We provide guidance in meeting contractual requirements arising from local regulations at the equipment installation site (NB Registration, CRN, CSA B51).

  • MOM authorisation for the Singapore market.
  • DOSH authorisation for the Malaysian market.

Personnel

TÜV THÜRINGEN Poland currently has four ASME Authorised Inspectors with valid credentials from the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.

AWS stands for the American Welding Society.

AWS regulations, particularly for welded steel structures, are widely applied worldwide. They are often the basis for contractual requirements for companies operating in this sector.

What is our role as TÜV THÜRINGEN?

We provide assistance in the preparation and execution of contracts according to American AWS standards, including, among others:

Standards Covered

  • 1 Structural Welding Code – Steel (carbon and low-alloy steel structures)
  • 3 Structural Welding Code – Sheet Steel (structures made of sheet steel < 5 mm thick)
  • 6 Structural Welding Code – Stainless Steel (stainless steel structures)
  • 1 Railroad Welding Specification for Cars and Locomotives (rail vehicle welding)

Services Offered

  • Assistance in the qualification of welding procedures – PQR
  • Assistance in Welder Performance Qualification – WPQ/TR
  • Assistance in the preparation of welding procedure specifications – WPS
    • Consulting on AWS standards, interpretation, and participation in contract discussions
    • Performing production and welding supervision, as well as inspection visits required by Test and Inspection Plans

Personnel and Certifications

  • Our services are carried out by experienced inspectors holding current CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certificates issued by AWS.

Additional Services

We provide assistance in preparing companies for certification under the AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) programme for manufacturers of welded structures and erection companies, including the development of a Quality Manual and associated procedures.
